More Organized Home | Kid’s Room

Well. I never finished my “More Organized Home” challenge. I am still working on organizing. Something that comes to mind when I think of organizing is from Flylady’s website. You can’t organize clutter! I’ve been seriously going through our house getting rid of things we don’t use. There is soooo much in our home we don’t use. It’s been hindering me making our rooms look nice.

Today, I’ve been working on the girls’ room. It’s the biggest project with all the toys they’ve accumulated over the years. I really should have been getting rid of toys each year because they get new toys each year. Twice a year! Once for their birthday and once for Christmas. And then, sometimes they get toys on other holidays. You can see how this gets overwhelming.

First, I went through the room and picked toys up and threw away obvious trash/broken toys. Once that was done I had the girls pick out the stuffed animals they wanted to keep. I think they realize that they have too much. There wasn’t any arguing about getting rid of toys and no tears.
My next task is to sort the toys into categories and make play centers. I’m also going to keep a couple bins in their closet and do a toy rotation.
All of this during Joshua’s naptimes 😉
