Lake Chelan

This weekend we spent the night at Lake Chelan State Park. It is such a beautiful lake. A few of our friends go every year. You are allowed to book your spot nine months in advance, and that’s pretty much what you have to do, to get in. We didn’t just because I don’t think we had the money at the time.

For the past few months I had been stalking the website to find a spot for us. Openings would come up, but nothing consecutive for any individual site. The Friday that we were planning on leaving, two spots finally opened up. However, someone else beat me to the one for Friday. I did get the one for Saturday, and it was a perfect site.

We drove for almost four hours, not including a couple pit stops. The kids did great! We didn’t bring anything to entertain them with. It was just the scenery; which was either mountains, or apple and pear orchards. Elena did start asking “Are we there yet?” a couple (hundred) times. I finally showed her a map so she could see how far away we were (halfway). Of course, then, she wanted to see the map every 5 minutes. 😛

Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Park

Friday we took a little road trip up to Mount Baker Snoqualmie National Park. It was cloudy when we started, the sun tried to peek out, but by time we got to the park it was still cloudy. The further up the mountain we went the more cold and rainy it was. I really wish the day had been nicer, (if only we had waited one day…) but it was still a pretty area.
We probably stayed about 10 minutes 😦 I wish we could have gone on some trails, but it was just too cold. Hopefully next year we will have a more reliable car and can make the trip again, I would definitely like to go back in nicer weather.

A view from the drive up. Ruth was really freaked out by having a drop off to the right of us!

Awww. Sissies 🙂

Vera did not want pictures. She was too cold. Poor thing 😦

Pretty colors!

A good image of the cold and rain…

Happy {6th} Birthday, Elena!

Today, you are 6!

From the day you came into this world
We were as proud as can be
Blessed with a daughter
For everyone to see

So every year we celebrate
This very special day
To mark another milestone
As your life moves on its way

Happy birthday to you!
We wish you all the happiness in the world
We are thankful all year round
For our very precious girl

What we’ve been up to

This past month (!) we were in Missouri/Iowa visiting family. We had lots of fun, but, I’ve really been looking forward to getting back to my routines. Traveling also reinforces my quest of minimalism. There are many things we have that we can live without. I’m fine with keeping things around that have special meaning. Sometimes I keep things, though, that I feel guilty getting rid of. It isn’t really anything I like or that holds special value for myself. It’s just something that may have been gifted to me and I worry too much about upsetting someone. If you are like that, I promise you, the person who gave you the gift probably has forgotten.

When we got back from our travels, my mom watched Elena and Vera so I could get some cleaning done. We took six bags of clothes and misc. items to Goodwill. It’s so nice to have that out of the house. There are many more bags that will be filled soon. I can’t wait! haha.

Speaking of travels… here are a few photos of the past month.

My brave Vera climbing up to a slide

My lovely friend, Melissa, took the kids’ pictures. They turned out so well!

We stayed a night at the Great Wolf Lodge in Kansas City.

I have more pictures to upload, those were just from my phone. 🙂
